Hi, my name is Francisco Rodrigues Bento, a professional djembe player and educator from Portugal.
My journey with the djembe began at age 17 and led me to study with respected mentors in the field, including Winga (Portugal), Tiago Brandão — a top student of Mamady Keita during his years in Belgium — and Guinean master djembefola Fodé Seydou Bangoura, known for the acclaimed Fakoly albums.
For nearly a decade I immersed myself fully in the djembe world — performing, teaching, accompanying dance classes, and collaborating with multiple percussion groups.
Today, my mission with Djembe Studio is to bring high-quality djembe education to players worldwide and help shape the evolution of modern djembe for the next generation.
